A rising star in the Indian cricket environment, Vaishnavi Sharma has joined the Mumbai Indians squad for the remainder of the WPL 2026 season as a replacement player. The 20-year-old left-arm orthodox spinner was signed for a fee of INR 30 lakh after initially going unsold in the WPL mega auction in November. Despite her young age, she has been a part of India's triumphant ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup squad of 2025 where she finished as the tournament's leading wicket-taker and became the first Indian bowler to record a hat-trick in the tournament's history. She made her senior international debut for the Indian team in a T20I series against Sri Lanka in December 2025, where she impressed with her control, taking five wickets in as many matches at an economy rate of 6.26. Her strong performances domestically and for the national team led to her maiden call-up to the senior Women's ODI squad as well.
