TATA WPL 2026 Player Auction
As expected, the highly anticipated TATA Women's Premier League (WPL) Auction 2026, the first mega auction went off very well in the capital city of New Delhi, on 27th November.
There were a few top bids with Deepti Sharma topping the list for the expensive buys during the auction, earning a whopping 3.2 crore INR with the UP Warriorz - the second-most expensive player in the history of the auctions. Along with her, the first-ever RTM rule was used to great effect by the teams as most of them looked to get back players who were part of their squad in the previous seasons, to maintain their core. At the same time, teams did not go overboard on big names, but rather chose to spend the money wisely, focussing on current form and also encouraging talent for the future.
There were also a few marquee names who missed out, as the auction clearly showed that the intention was to look at current form. With a minimum of 15 players required to form a squad, nearly everyone utilized their full amount and picked the minimum set of players needed, with UPW and GG still having money left, despite reaching the maximum mark of 18 players!
Let's hope that every team got its wish to prepare for another bigger and better season of the TATA WPL!
