South Africa’s leading wicket taker in ODIs (101 wickets) and T20Is (123 wickets), Shabnim Ismail was bought by Mumbai Indians at the 2024 TATA WPL Auction for INR 1.2 Crore, MI's costliest buy in that auction. She delivered the fastest ball in women's cricket which clocked 132.1 kmph in a game against Delhi Capitals in the inaugural season. She played a crucial role with the ball by helping the team clinch their second title in 2025. Due to her consistency, she was picked again ahead of the 2026 season by the franchise for INR 60 lakh. Ismail’s ability to pick wickets at the new ball will be important as the franchise looks to win their 3rd title in TATA WPL 2026.
