The UP Warriorz registered a stunning second consecutive win over the Mumbai Indians in Match 10 of the TATA WPL 2026, putting their campaign back on track with a comprehensive 22-run victory at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. A brilliant 119-run partnership between Australian compatriots Meg Lanning and Phoebe Litchfield was the cornerstone of the Warriorz's formidable total of 187/8.
Mumbai Indians skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and elected to bowl first, a decision that initially seemed sound when Nicola Carey dismissed opener Kiran Navgire for a golden duck in the very first over. However, this early success was quickly overshadowed as captain Meg Lanning and Phoebe Litchfield took control.

The Australian duo displayed a magnificent exhibition of aggressive batting, dealing in boundaries and sixes and ensuring the innings did not crumble. They brought up their fifty-run stand within the powerplay overs, with boundaries flowing freely. Lanning was the first to reach her fifty off just 35 balls, followed closely by Litchfield's blistering half-century. Their partnership eventually yielded a massive 119 runs off 74 balls before Litchfield was dismissed by Amanjot Kaur for a well-made 61 off 37 deliveries. Lanning continued her assault, ultimately falling for 70 off 45 balls.

A late flurry from Harleen Deol (25 off 16) and Chloe Tryon (21 off 13) propelled UPW towards a score that once looked like it could reach 200. Mumbai's Amelia Kerr produced a sensational final over, taking three wickets for just two runs to limit the damage, completing figures of 3/28 and, in the process, becoming the first bowler in WPL history to reach 50 wickets.

Chasing a challenging target of 188, Mumbai Indians rejigged their opening pair, promoting Sajeevan Sajana to partner Hayley Matthews. The move did not pay off, as both openers departed early. The middle-order too perished early as UPW fielders and bowlers complemented each other perfectly. Haarlen Deol took a stunner to dismiss Nicola Carey as the defending champions found themselves in deep trouble at 69/5 in the 11th over, with key batters Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur also failing to make a significant impact.
One of the best catches of the season yet? 😮

A brave late fightback ensued between Amelia Kerr, who remained unbeaten on a fine 49 off 28 balls, and Amanjot Kaur, who scored a crucial 41 off 24. Their 82-run partnership provided a glimmer of hope and ensured the net run rate damage was limited. However, the mountain to climb was too steep. Shikha Pandey's disciplined bowling performance, particularly in the penultimate over, sealed the win for UP Warriorz, who restricted Mumbai Indians to 165/6 in their 20 overs. In the process, UP Warriorz completed a perfect "league double" over the defending champions in the 2026 season, inducing confidence as they move forward in the league. For her excellent captain’s knock, Meg Lanning was adjudged the Player of the Match.
