She became the fourth-most expensive buy and the second-most expensive Indian player after Smriti Mandhana. It wasn't a surprise that the likes of Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants, Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz were engaged in a bidding war for the star all-rounder. Deepti brings a lot to the table and forms the core of UP Warriorz. She's the vice-captain of the side. The wily spinner is a wicket-taker who can deceive the batters with her flight and guile. Her cool and calm demeanor stands out and she's the go-to player under pressure. She can bowl in all three phases of the game and of late has been performing the finisher's job with the bat with aplomb. She was UPW’s second-highest wicket-taker in the 2023 edition with 9 wickets in 9 matches. The 25-year-old has been in brilliant form lately and would look to carry that into the WPL.
