Born in Melbourne to Indian parents from Chennai, Alana King is a skilful leg-spinner renowned for her control, variation and a deceptive googly. A regular feature in the Australian women’s team in recent years, she has built a reputation for dictating terms through the middle overs. King was part of Australia’s gold medal-winning squad at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and played a key role in the team’s triumphs at the 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup and the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Her consistency stood out in the 2024–25 Women’s Ashes, where she was named Player of the Series for her match-winning leg-spin. She was Australia’s second highest wicket-taker in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. Originally signed by UP Warriorz for INR 30 lakh in WPL 2025, King was later picked up by Delhi Capitals as a replacement for Annabel Sutherland at a reserve price of INR 60 lakh ahead of the 2026 season. Her wicket-taking ability and knack for breaking partnerships make her a crucial weapon in DC’s pursuit of their maiden TATA WPL title.
